Can John Kelly survive much longer?

James Comey had better hope there are no tapes of our conversation.–President Trump

Lordy, I hope there are tapes.–James Comey

President Trump can’t be happy to learn that Omarosa was able to carry a recording device, possibly a cell phone, around the oval office and made recordings secretly. Nor can he be happy with Omarosa’s story that Kelly, the puppet master, is the real power in the White House while Trump is clueless. What will happen next? Can General Kelly survive this. I hope he can; the likely consequence otherwise is chaos.

Talk about incompetent. This woman was able to bring a recording device into the SITUATION ROOM. The Situation Room is supposed to be the most secret room in the nation. What does that tell you about the administration? Makes you wonder why Kelly brought her into that room to fire her? He could have just fired her in his office.

Yes, it does make one wonder. Was that room merely convenient, is General Kelly’s office insufficiently private, did he hope a meeting there would be especially intimidating, or does using it give him a feeling of enhanced power? Who else could go in with a recording device and possibly leave it there? Perhaps someday General Kelly will write a memoir.

In “The Brethren,” a 1979 book on the Supreme Court by Woodward and Armstrong, we learn that when Warren Burger became Chief Justice he was dissatisfied with his small office. In the absence of the other Justices, he decided to take and use the Justices’ inner sanctum, their conference room, as his office.
