Press Release from Tracy Mitrano for Congress

PENN YAN—Today, Democratic Congressional candidate Tracy Mitrano (NY-23) announced that her campaign has undergone an energetic relaunch after being certified as the official Democratic nominee for New York’s 23rd District by the New York State Board of Election Commissioners (BOE) and raising over $175,000 in the month of July.

“I am thrilled that our message of economic opportunity has inspired this district into action. July was a record-setting month for fundraising, and our volunteer base is growing rapidly—clear evidence of the grassroots energy in this district and an appetite for real solutions to the problems facing our citizens,” Mitrano said.

“The truth is clear: our message of providing high-quality affordable health care, guaranteeing a good education, investing in physical and digital infrastructure, and protecting our natural resources is resonating with the people of the 23rd District. There is no stopping the momentum of this campaign.”

On Wednesday, August 8, 2018 the BOE convened to tally the results from each county within the 23rd District and declared Mitrano the winner of a hard-fought five-way primary election.

After Mitrano won the primary election last month, the campaign employed a robust fundraising effort that broke previous records. Additionally, the campaign surpassed 1,100 active volunteers.

It isn’t just about money–Tracy needs to actively paint Tom Reed as cruel and incompetent.

But Congressman Tom is not cruel and incompetent. I and many other constituents have found Tom Reed to be very caring and competent. Tracy Mitrano should campaign as being an opponent who is against some of Congressman Reed and the Republican controlled Congress’ platform and voting record.

You can correctly label the Republican controlled Congress the Congress of big Government and big Government spending.

Will Tracy Mitrano commit to reducing federal spending , a balanced budget and paying down and reducing the National Debt ?

Tom Reed is cruel–he would deprive his constituents of health care and retirement income. He is silent on prisons for infants and children. He is incompetent–his view of his responsibility is limited to self-interest, party interest, and special interests.

This might be a good time to reduce the deficit, but the GOP just voted a huge tax giveaway. The idea that government is bad and so should be small and spend little on no matter what is just unsupported nonsense.

Whungerford, I could care less what the government spent money on if they did not take the money from me, my family members and my employers and customers. Unfortunately they want us to fund every costly government scheme including US Military activity & troops all over the globe.

No one wants to “fund every costly government scheme.” We may not all agree on what is important. It is up to us to elect representatives who will spend wisely.

I think Tracy Mitrano should have a small charge fund raiser Town Hall type event and invite Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to attend the event and speak to those in attendance and take questions. It would help drive more people to Tracy’s events and to her cause.
