“It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the suspension of my campaign for Congress in NY’s 23rd District. I would like to sincerely thank all of those who have supported me in the past year—it means the world to me. I have had the privilege of meeting the wonderful people of NY 23 and will cherish every moment spent getting to know so many amazing citizens.
After much deliberation, I accept that the challenge of raising the necessary money and resources to sustain a viable run for office has placed too great a burden on my family. We are not independently wealthy and simply can not afford the endeavor. Until campaign finance laws in the nation change, ordinary working people like myself will find the challenge of running for office is often insurmountable.
I wish the remaining candidates the best of luck and promise to put my full effort behind the winner of the primary because I believe the people of the 23rd deserve fair and honest representation.” —Rick Gallant
Rick Gallant, the Middle School Teacher and Basketball Coach from Painted Post, was one of the original candidates to throw his hat into the campaign ring. Rick is also a Regional Director in the New York State United Teachers Union.
With Rick leaving the race, the remaining candidates are Linda Andrei, Max Della Pia, Ian Golden, Tracy Mitrano, and Eddie Sundquist.
Let me translate; There are not enough volunteers across the district to help me secure enough valid signatures on my designating petitions.
Rick Gallant may have been the most conservative of the Dem candidates and most likely would have not won a primary with the current state of the Democrat Party.
We will be lucky if three candidates make it to the primary.

Rynstone, I wasn’t aware that you were a Democrat and concerned about the party. So which candidate did you volunteer to collect signatures for? When was the last time you talked to Rick or any of the other candidates? I spoke to them at a meet and greet following Reed’s Almond town hall. So which three candidates do you think will be lucky enough to make it to the primary?

Well Stevie, Since I am not a registered Democrat nor a Notary I have been busy collecting signatures for Tom Reed and Claudia Tenney.
I have also spent an average of 20 hours per week for the past month lobbying against Governor Cuomo’s proposed budget that has over 1 Billion dollars in new taxes that will affect all NY’ers.
A 14% tax on healthcare plans, new tax on medications and other drugs and a new tax on all medical devises to name a few.
Cuomo also wants 4.4 Billion to give out in economic aid with less oversight than before. This is the theft and redistribution of taxpayer dollars to support crony capitalism and corporate welfare.
Nothing more than the government picking winners and losers

Rynstone, Gary is that you? Why the pretending?

What pretending Steve? I actually met with Rick Gallant and his campaign manager. They asked me for some advice and possible help in the future.
I also follow Tracy Mitrano’s FB page and comment on it once in a while.
I was not aware that you have to be a Registered Democrat or a registered Republican to care about the Parties ?!
I am a former John F. Kennedy Democrat.
I dislike the current Republican Party almost as much as I dislike the current Democrat party. This does not mean that I don’t want to work to fix them.
