Health care cost

worriedseniorwoman_resizedCost Sharing Reduction (CSR)–A discount that lowers the amount you have to pay for deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. In the Health Insurance Marketplace, cost-sharing reductions are often called “extra savings.”

This has to be fixed. This is not going to get better with time and we’re going to see real impacts of not addressing this.–Rep. Tom Reed

Tom Reed favors it, House misleaders blocked it, can the Senate save it?

We’re turning our back on people who have stood with us through these difficult times. And if CSRs aren’t the solution, give me a different solution to consider.–Rep. Tom Reed

The question Congress has to face is: Do we want to make a real difference in the rates that will be published this fall, or not And this is the only real opportunity to do this, and to have what every study has shown would be a significant impact in making health insurance more affordable.--Senator Susan Collins

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who along with Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) has championed a bill that would fund cost-sharing reduction payments and a $30 billion reinsurance pool, said Tuesday that she sees Friday at midnight as the last opportunity to get the measure through. That’s when Congress must pass an omnibus spending bill to avert a government shutdown.

Should Tom Reed get credit for wishing for a solution which his party has blocked?  If only wishing made it so.

A different solution to consider? Single payer, Tom. QED.

Anne, in the meantime we need to unseat Tom O’Mara and elect Susan Beckley to the 58th State Senate district. Susan supports the NY Health Act and would be the deciding vote in the State Senate.

Reed’s optimism may have been unjustified. Reportedly, a plan to provide funding to shore up the Obamacare marketplaces went by the wayside. It is interesting that Tom Reed, who never had a good word for Obamacare, now objects to Republican efforts to defund what they haven’t yet destroyed.

Is this what the Progressive Liberals and Socialist Democrats want in NY State ?

Please tell me why. Help me to understand why you think this is a good thing.
