Cost Sharing Reduction (CSR)–A discount that lowers the amount you have to pay for deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. In the Health Insurance Marketplace, cost-sharing reductions are often called “extra savings.”

The question Congress has to face is: Do we want to make a real difference in the rates that will be published this fall, or not And this is the only real opportunity to do this, and to have what every study has shown would be a significant impact in making health insurance more affordable.--Senator Susan Collins

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who along with Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) has championed a bill that would fund cost-sharing reduction payments and a $30 billion reinsurance pool, said Tuesday that she sees Friday at midnight as the last opportunity to get the measure through. That’s when Congress must pass an omnibus spending bill to avert a government shutdown.

Should Tom Reed get credit for wishing for a solution which his party has blocked?  If only wishing made it so.
