“I continue to say it to people today and I’m going to continue to say it during the next few days as we celebrate and commemorate the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. That when you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have a moral obligation to do something. You cannot afford to be quiet or to be silent. We have to continue to work, continue to speak up and speak out.”–Rep. Lewis
Rep. Lewis said what he said because he regards it as a moral obligation to speak out. He didn’t speak out because:
- Trump is a Republican.
- He doesn’t like Trump.
Lewis spoke out because he sees the election as unfair due to Russian interference. This concern, and others including voter suppression and gerrymandering, are shared by many.
What Bill Moyers said (in response to Trump’s tweet attack on Lewis): “Trump isn’t fit to be a carbuncle on John Lewis’s posterior.”

Incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus came after a prominent lawmaker and civil rights activist, Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), said Trump was not a “legitimate president” and more than a dozen fellow Democratic lawmakers announced that they would not attend Trump’s inauguration.
Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Priebus acknowledged Lewis’s “historic contribution to civil rights and voting rights” but said his doubts about Trump’s legitimacy are “insanity” and “incredibly disappointing.”
Insanity? Really, Mr. Priebus?
Lewis’s actual words: I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president.

Incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus warned the head of the Office of Government Ethics on Sunday to “be careful” in his criticisms of President-elect Donald Trump.
OGE Director Walter Shaub last week panned Trump’s plan to address his business conflicts as “meaningless,” marking the second time the director called on the president-elect to fully divest his assets before he assumes the presidency this week.
“The head of the government ethics ought to be careful because that person is becoming extremely political,” Priebus said on ABC News’ “This Week.”
Another attack on the Ethics office? Really, Mr. Priebus?

The Republicans and their pundits (?) have all sunk below the Mariana’s Trench. They can’t possibly hear themselves or own mirrors. Insanity is a term that should be reserved for those who have a mental disease – innocent of their actions. These bozos revel in their evil, and appear to relish making up more lies as they go.
Rep Lewis, a tried and true American hero, after almost losing his life protesting for Civil rights, and serving our country in Congress – will have to continue Martin Luther Jrs’ dreaming of an American that stands up for honor.
