Tenets of Republicanism

Compiling this list was fun; I could go on, but readers will get my drift from this.

  • crazySocial Security and Medicare are unsustainable; cutting benefits is the only way to save them.
  • The greatest income gap between rich and poor among first-world countries is the price of freedom.
  • If a woman’s wage is lower than a man’s for the same work, it must be the woman’s fault.
  • State’s rights forever, but not if States try to regulate fracking.
  • Scott Walker would make a good President.
  • Test student’s knowledge to weed out ineffective teachers, but don’t make our children take tests which they might fail.
  • Deficit spending is wrong because our children will someday have to pay us back. (Tom Reed has told children more than once that they are born owing a big debt that they will someday have to repay.)
  • John McCain would have made a good President.
  • Govt. shouldn’t spy on citizens, HRC being an exception.
  • Romneycare can be tolerated, but Obamacare must be repealed and replaced by we don’t know or care what as long as it isn’t named after Obama.
  • Clean air and water as long as business profits are unaffected.
  • Immigration reform is amnesty.
  • Spiro Agnew was a good choice for VP because he made Democrats see red. (attributed to RMN)
  • We must never raise taxes, especially not for wealthy persons or profitable corporations.
  • If benefits are cut, the unemployed will find some job somewhere.
  • Mike Huckabee would make a good President.
  • A good bill is any bill President Obama will veto.
  • Unlike Dr. Freud, Republican men know what women want.
  • Domestic spending must be cut, but the military needs an increase.
  • Don’t raise the minimum wage when unemployment is high, or when it is low either.
  • The Federal government should have a balanced budget because government is just like a family.
  • American History lessons should reflect only positive views.
  • Climate change due to burning things is a hoax.
  • Immigration reform is unnecessary and would only help elect more Democrats.
  • Descendants of European Immigrants are the real native Americans.
  • Benefits paid to individuals make them weak and dependent; welfare paid to corporations makes them stronger.
  • Jeb Bush would make a good President as anyone named Bush would do or could have done.
  • Racism is a thing of the past.
  • Ted Cruz would make a good President.
  • Every bill should have a obscure provision limiting a women’s right to abortion.
  • The income tax is evil; a national sales tax would be fair to rich and poor alike. because then everyone would pay less.
  • Mitt would have got everything right just as he promised.
  • Students are certain to succeed at for-profit schools.
  • President Obama can be blamed for doing what he did, for doing what he didn’t do, or for what he didn’t do but might do someday.
  • Water pollution is bad, but not if it results from fracking (Halliburton Amendment).
  • “Government can’t create jobs”–Tom Reed who has a government job.
  • Too many Americans bother to vote; it should be made more difficult.
  • Trickle down can put a car elevator (almost new) in every garage
  • Voting rights: govt. ID, NRA membership card, or Israeli passport.
  • People need armor-piercing bullets for target practice.
  • Endangered species should be protected unless business or government is inconvenienced.
  • Anything Republicans don’t like is unconstitutional.
  • Mitt Romney understands the plight of the poor.
  • Global warming is a hoax.
  • Seniors wouldn’t need pensions or Social Security if they would only save their money when young.
  • Medicare would be much more efficient if privatized.
  • Evolution is an unproven theory, creationism is factual.
  • If benefits are cut, the disabled will find some job somewhere.
  • President Obama is a foreigner, a Muslim, and a Socialist while Bibi is an American, a Christian, and would have nothing to do with Socialism (kibbutz, what’s that?).
  • Donald Trump would make a good President.
  • Govt. should respect private property, HRC’s email server being an exception.
  • State’s rights, but not if States regulate firearms.
  • Bibi would make a good President.

Readers are invited to add their own favorite Republicanisms.

    • The way to solve crime is to make sure criminals can have easy access to guns.
    • We believe in democracy and voting rights…in other countries only.
    • There is no bill too short or long or complex that we won’t attach an anti-abortion rider to.
    • Your employer should decide what kind of health care you get.
    • Big government should stay out of your life…unless it wants to deny you health care, birth control, the right to marry and a living wage.

And. The theme song for the New Republican Majority…

  2. Deb Meeker says:

*Any heads of state outside of the Us (especially from those that disagree with this President) would be better than Obama; they’re all smarter and stronger.
*Being a liberal or progressive in thought process, is a crime against Capitalism, those that think otherwise are Commies.
*If you are a Christian you must distrust and/or hate other religions, and those that practice them.
*God came down and wrote the Constitution, and Jesus doesn’t believe in evolution.
*People with no education are trustworthy, we like having a beer with them, and we want them to run our country.
*It is better to do without than to ever ask for help, even if your family is starving.
*Science is important, to support big pharma, and new fracking techniques. Otherwise it’s a bunch of hooey.
*Women can’t expect to be paid the same and otherwise considered equals with men; my mother didn’t.
*The next generation is our future. We need to help them understand early on – that life will be very hard scrabble; that builds character.
*Undermining the goals of your country’s leadership proves you’re a Patriot.

  3. Correction: “State’s rights forever, but not if States try to regulate firearms” or Fracking.

I had a calendar once with a historical event noted for each day. Many of the “events” referred to the “invention of the electric duck.” The repetition was humerous; I tried to capture some of that.

I forgot the most important one.
    Obama Bad.

    • whungerford says:

Is it just Obama, or is there a tradition in American politics to treat any controversial President as illegitimate? I’m thinking of Wilson, FDR, and every President after G.H.W.B. Tompkins County Republicans demand that Congress not confirm any Obama appointee for any office stalling until the end of his term. If HRC is the next President, would they have Congress not confirm anyone for four or eight years?

  5. Barbara Griffin says:

Very entertaining, my friends…and all too true.
