Rep. Charles Boustany Jr is favorite to defeat fellow Tea Party supported Rep. Jeff Landry in a unique Louisiana run-off election. Under state election law the top two finishers from the Election Day contest face each other in a general election runoff if the winner failed to get a simple majority of the vote. On November 6, Boustany defeated Landry 45% to 30%. A democrat received 22% of the vote. Boustany is favored because 75% of the voters in the newly drawn district were in Boustany’s former district.
Roll Call.com reported that Our Congressman, Rep. Tom Reed gave a four-figure donation to Rep. Boustany’s campaign. His opponent, Rep. Jeff Landry has raised far less money than Boustany, but has an organized Tea Party supporting him. The election is December 8.
